STOTT PILATES® The Knee: Reformer Programming for Stability & Function

The knee is a complex structure that can experience any number of injuries or conditions that interrupt normal functioning. This lecture/demo-style workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team, begins by exploring the anatomy and biomechanics involved in the normal, healthy functioning of the knee, followed by a discussion of some of the more common dysfunctions caused by injury or disease. Lastly, learn a variety of exercise progressions using the Pilates Reformer and accessories designed to be implemented in a post-rehabilitative setting to rebuild normal muscle action and movement patterning. Designed to prepare the body for specific activities and enhance performance, these exercises can challenge and promote optimal functioning.

STOTT PILATES® The Shoulder Girdle: Reformer Programming for Stability & Function

The shoulder girdle is a complex structure that is subjected to stresses in everyday life and even more stress during extreme activities. In this lecture/demo-style workshop developed by the Merrithew® team, discover how Pilates programming on the Reformer can be ideal in a post-rehabilitative setting. First, explore the anatomy and biomechanics involved in the normal, healthy functioning of the shoulder girdle, then, discuss common abnormal or dysfunctional movement patterns that can result from injury or strain. Finally, learn how specially selected exercises on the Reformer can address these issues by creating awareness, stability and strength. Exercises are layered to restore functional mobility, then progress to work-hardening activities and performance enhancement.

STOTT PILATES® Athletic Conditioning on the Cardio-Tramp® Rebounder

In this workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team, participants learn innovative new programming on the Reformer and Cardio-Tramp® Rebounder. The workout, designed to stimulate both cardiovascular and muscular effectiveness is ideal for both the recreational and professional athlete. Discover how to combine progressive plyometric intervals, varying both in length and intensity, with muscular strength and endurance moves on the vertical mini trampoline. The routine features non-traditional Pilates exercises that use the incredible diversity of the Reformer to effectively train both concentric and eccentric muscular ability.

Learning objectives

  • Apply the STOTT PILATES® Principles method to targeted exercises on the Cardio-Tramp
  • Understand movement essence and exercise goals as applied to athletic conditioning
  • Explore how the Cardio-Tramp can be beneficial to athletic training
  • Learn how plyometrics and strength conditioning can be achieved on the Cardio-Tramp
